Family friendly human resource policies as a retention strategy

As the Baby Boomers retire at a rate of 10,000 a day and Millennials take hold in the workplace, the workforce shortage will become more and more apparent.  Baby Boomers outnumber Millennials significantly making employee retention an enormously important goal.  Millennials like other cohorts, like family friendly policies and will often leave a job they like for an organization with better human resource policies.  Consider options like : telecommuting, flexible work hours, pet-friendly policies, spousal/partner career planning support, job sharing, parental leave, elder care, adoption assistance, social work support, adult day care, and sabbaticals.  Choose policies that align with your organizational vision, values, and goals and can stay within your budget.
